New version 0.4 (32bit Spring Cleaning 2023)


Well, we will admit, we don't do changelogs for our games that often, but for this occasion, we will do one just to highlight what's changed since the last version (the prejam version):

  • Migrated to New Input System for better compatibility with controllers and fix the sensitivity issues with the old version (any feedback about the new controls and menu navigation is welcome).
  • Upgraded to Unity 2020.
  • The font was changed to Helvetica.
  • Redesigned UI (at least, the icons).
  • New Bullet Types (including a new melee weapon) (we are still working on making new and fun weapons).
  • New secondary objects like grenades (actually, just the grenades, we are still working on new secondary items).
  • Reworked player and camera controller to be much closer to its inspiration (MDK), including a new Camera Headbob effect.
  • Healing has changed: now there are crystals that heal the player and the healing chambers now only heal the player once, so use it carefully.
  • New player animations (still WIP).
  • New visuals powered by HauntedPSX (any feedback about the visuals is welcome).
  • Tweaked AI (still WIP, for now they behave more or less the same as the old AI. Any feedback and suggestions on that area are welcome).
  • Redesigned Levels (or just one level redesigned, we will get into that in a moment...).

Sadly, we had to cut some content from the old version for various reasons:

  • The second level had to be cut due to a lack of time for a redesign.
  • The Boss is pretty much the same. We were planning to add a new mini boss for each level, but even that had to be cut due to time.
  • Door interaction and the code mechanics are cut due to scope creep (might return for a future update or for another game, who knows).
